They Make Me Regret I Am Not a Bee
Emily Dickinson envied the bees their flowers, and ginger would have embarrassed her most of all: the plant sends up flame-colored blooms worth any poet’s jealousy. But the interesting part of ginger is the part nobody sees. The leaves live in the light; the flavor lives underground, in a knotted root that carries fire up from the dark.
Cooks have prized that fire for thousands of years, from ships’ galleys to gingerbread tins, and it has always kept company with honey; the two have shared kitchen shelves as long as there have been kitchens. In this candy, the honey opens first, and then the ginger arrives: a warm, building heat that is unmistakably the root itself, not a polite imitation of it.
Each hexagon-window box holds 3.5 ounces of drops made without corn syrup and without gluten. The box is sustainably made paper you can recycle or compost, and the inner bag is recyclable food-grade plastic.
What Makes Our Ginger Honey Candy Special?
- All natural ginger oil: Real ginger character with genuine warmth, drawn from the root, not a faint gingerale whisper.
- Honey first, then heat: The flavor arrives in order. Honey opens soft, and the ginger builds behind it, warm and slow.
- Five simple ingredients: Non-GMO sugar, honey, water, all natural ginger oil, and Non-GMO coconut oil. Nothing else.
- Gluten-free and corn-syrup-free: Made without gluten or corn syrup. Produced in a facility that handles peanuts and tree nuts.
- Thoughtful packaging: A sustainably made paper box with a honeycomb window, recyclable or home-compostable when clean and dry.
Meet the root that grows in the dark and arrives warm.
How to use: Eat them right out of the box. Let a drop dissolve in hot water with a squeeze of lemon for a light ginger-honey sipper, or use one to sweeten a cup of our Beautea tisane. Tuck a box into a travel bag; ginger has been the traveler's candy for centuries. Serve a dish alongside dark chocolate; ginger and cocoa are an old and excellent pairing. Store in a cool, dry place away from sun and humidity.

Ginger Honey Candy FAQs
How spicy is Ginger Honey Candy?
Warm, not fiery. Honey opens soft, then the ginger builds slowly behind it, the way fresh ginger does when you bite into a slice. It’s real ginger heat, not a faint ginger ale whisper, but it settles rather than burns. If you’re after pepper heat instead, our Spicy Honey Candy is the one built on habanero.
What gives Ginger Honey Candy its flavor?
All natural ginger oil, drawn from the root. The full recipe is five ingredients: non-GMO sugar, honey, water, all natural ginger oil, and non-GMO coconut oil. There are no ginger pieces in the drop, so it dissolves smooth from start to finish, and there’s no artificial flavoring and no corn syrup in the recipe.
What goes well with Ginger Honey Candy?
Dark chocolate, for one. Ginger and cocoa are an old and excellent pairing, so set out a dish of these next to a good chocolate bar. A drop also dissolves nicely into a cup of black tea or our Beautea, where it adds honey and a second layer of ginger without reaching for the spoon.
Are these honey candies kosher?
No. Our honey candy is not kosher certified, so please don’t rely on it for a kosher table or a kosher gift. If certification matters to you or to the person you’re shopping for, look to our jarred honeys instead: every honey we jar by hand in Owings Mills is Star-K kosher certified, from Wildflower to our Royale honeys.
Are your honey candies free of dairy, nuts, and soy?
Yes. There’s no dairy, nuts, or soy in any flavor, including Chocolate, which gets its flavor from cocoa rather than milk chocolate. Every flavor does contain non-GMO coconut oil, which some people with nut allergies ask about. The candy is made in a facility that also handles peanuts and tree nuts, so keep that in mind if nuts are a concern in your house.
Are your honey candies gluten-free and corn syrup free?
Yes to both. Every flavor is made without gluten and without corn syrup. Each recipe starts with the same four ingredients: non-GMO sugar, honey, water, and non-GMO coconut oil. From there, each flavor adds one or two of its own, like cocoa, ginger oil, vanilla extract, or freeze dried blueberries, and nothing else.
Where is your honey candy made?
Our honey candy is made in the USA with local honey. The recipes are short on purpose: every drop starts from honey and non-GMO sugar, and none of the flavors use corn syrup or added coloring, which is why the whole line comes out close to the same warm amber color.
How much candy is in a box?
Each box holds 3.5 ounces (99 grams) of honey drops, about six servings of 15 drops each. The box is about 3 by 5 inches, roughly the size of a tarot deck, with a honeycomb window so you can see the drops. It’s sustainably made paper you can recycle or home compost when clean and dry, and the inner bag is recyclable.
Do honey candies stick together in humid weather?
Yes, they can. Hard honey candy pulls moisture out of the air, and on a muggy day loose drops will start to cling to each other and turn tacky on the outside. Keep them sealed in their bag and away from heat, like a sunny windowsill or a hot car, and they’ll stay hard and separate.
How long does honey candy keep?
Honey candy is best within a year of the purchase date. Once you open a box, plan to finish it within three months. In between, keep it away from heat and humidity, which are what change hard candy most. If you’re buying ahead for the holidays or for gifts, a year gives you plenty of room.
Are your honey candies vegan?
Technically, no. Honey is made by bees, and many people who follow a vegan diet leave it out for that reason. Every flavor in our candy line starts with honey, so none of them fit a strict vegan diet. If you’re shopping for someone who eats vegan, it’s worth asking whether they include honey before you buy.
