The Pedigree of Honey Does Not Concern the Bee

Emily Dickinson knew that bees don’t care what’s fashionable. Stand near a lavender field in early summer and you’ll hear the proof before you smell it: the whole field hums. Bees work lavender relentlessly, row after purple row, which is how the flower earned its permanent place in our world, in our teas, our body care, and now in a candy.

The flavor is floral but grounded. A drop opens with honey, and then the lavender arrives, herbal at the edges, unmistakably itself, never soapy or perfumed. It finishes the way the scent of a lavender field follows you up the road: present, then gently gone.

Each hexagon-window box holds 3.5 ounces of drops made without corn syrup and without gluten. The box is sustainably made paper you can recycle or compost, and the inner bag is recyclable food-grade plastic.

What Makes Our Lavender Honey Candy Special?

  • All natural lavender flavor: True to the flower, not to a soap aisle. Five ingredients total: Non-GMO sugar, honey, water, all natural lavender flavor, and Non-GMO coconut oil.
  • Honey first, then the bloom: The flavor arrives in order. Honey opens, and the lavender unfolds behind it, floral and light.
  • A bee’s favorite flower: Lavender is one of the most pollinator-loved plants in any garden, a fitting flavor for a beekeeper’s candy line.
  • Gluten-free and corn-syrup-free: Made without gluten or corn syrup. Produced in a facility that handles peanuts and tree nuts.
  • Thoughtful packaging: A sustainably made paper box with a honeycomb window, recyclable or home-compostable when clean and dry.

Taste the field the bees chose.

How to use: Eat them right out of the box.Set the box out with afternoon tea; in Provence, lavender and a hot cup have kept company for centuries. Let a drop dissolve in warm milk or a London Fog for a light lavender-honey sweetener. Try one alongside a lemon honey drop, tang and florals in one bite, like a Provençal market in candy form. Store in a cool, dry place away from sun and humidity.

Lavender Honey Candy FAQs

Does Lavender Honey Candy taste like soap?

No. Lavender goes soapy when it’s overdone, so this one is kept floral and a little herbal, with honey underneath. The drop opens with honey, the lavender unfolds behind it, and the finish fades the way the scent of a lavender field follows you up the road. Think lavender shortbread, not a bar of lavender soap.

What gives Lavender Honey Candy its flavor?

All natural lavender flavor, added to the same base as every candy in our line: non-GMO sugar, honey, water, and non-GMO coconut oil. There’s no coloring and no corn syrup. Lavender is also one of the plants bees work hardest in summer, which is part of why it belongs in a beekeeper’s candy line.

How do I use Lavender Honey Candy with tea?

Let a drop dissolve in a cup of Earl Grey or a London Fog with warm milk. Lavender and bergamot are old companions, which is why our Raven Earl Grey is blended with lavender buds. One drop adds honey and a light floral note at the same time, and it pairs nicely with a lemon honey drop on the side.

Are these honey candies kosher?

No. Our honey candy is not kosher certified, so please don’t rely on it for a kosher table or a kosher gift. If certification matters to you or to the person you’re shopping for, look to our jarred honeys instead: every honey we jar by hand in Owings Mills is Star-K kosher certified, from Wildflower to our Royale honeys.

Are your honey candies free of dairy, nuts, and soy?

Yes. There’s no dairy, nuts, or soy in any flavor, including Chocolate, which gets its flavor from cocoa rather than milk chocolate. Every flavor does contain non-GMO coconut oil, which some people with nut allergies ask about. The candy is made in a facility that also handles peanuts and tree nuts, so keep that in mind if nuts are a concern in your house.

Are your honey candies gluten-free and corn syrup free?

Yes to both. Every flavor is made without gluten and without corn syrup. Each recipe starts with the same four ingredients: non-GMO sugar, honey, water, and non-GMO coconut oil. From there, each flavor adds one or two of its own, like cocoa, ginger oil, vanilla extract, or freeze dried blueberries, and nothing else.

Where is your honey candy made?

Our honey candy is made in the USA with local honey. The recipes are short on purpose: every drop starts from honey and non-GMO sugar, and none of the flavors use corn syrup or added coloring, which is why the whole line comes out close to the same warm amber color.

How much candy is in a box?

Each box holds 3.5 ounces (99 grams) of honey drops, about six servings of 15 drops each. The box is about 3 by 5 inches, roughly the size of a tarot deck, with a honeycomb window so you can see the drops. It’s sustainably made paper you can recycle or home compost when clean and dry, and the inner bag is recyclable.

Do honey candies stick together in humid weather?

Yes, they can. Hard honey candy pulls moisture out of the air, and on a muggy day loose drops will start to cling to each other and turn tacky on the outside. Keep them sealed in their bag and away from heat, like a sunny windowsill or a hot car, and they’ll stay hard and separate.

How long does honey candy keep?

Honey candy is best within a year of the purchase date. Once you open a box, plan to finish it within three months. In between, keep it away from heat and humidity, which are what change hard candy most. If you’re buying ahead for the holidays or for gifts, a year gives you plenty of room.

Are your honey candies vegan?

Technically, no. Honey is made by bees, and many people who follow a vegan diet leave it out for that reason. Every flavor in our candy line starts with honey, so none of them fit a strict vegan diet. If you’re shopping for someone who eats vegan, it’s worth asking whether they include honey before you buy.
